Finally after many years of planning, organising, approvals, fundraising and lots of interaction the construction of the Banchory Woodland Trails has been started by our contractor CR Contracting Ltd (CRC).

Support Us!

As our project fast approaches the finish line, we need your support more than ever before. Whilst we’ve had many successful fundraising projects over the years, we still need the support of the community to complete this project.

Timescale

CRC will be working in the area of Corsee Woods adjacent to the Glen O’Dee hospital between November 2023 and January 2024.  The disturbance to the woodland users should be minimal as CRC will mainly be working in areas that are not currently in use. However, there will be times when heavy machinery and equipment is being moved around and access is necessary, so please respect the safety signage and any sectioned off areas within the woods. We aim to keep any impact to the public at a minimum during the construction phase.

Core Path

For the first two weeks, until 23-Nov the current path running from the Glen O’Dee hospital boundary to the back of the Inchmarlo house will be closed as the path is upgraded. This means there will be signage to observe and obey for a short alternative route through this part of the woods. Thanks for your patience whilst this work is ongoing.

Trail Building

CRC quickly moved on to starting to start building the trails within the first few weeks of the work commencing. We will post updates on our Facebook Page as things progress.

Trail Naming Competition

We are having a trail naming competition so get your entry in (keep your eyes peeled for updates via email and social media).

Opening

The question I expect most people want to know is…when will the trails be open?  The construction phase is expected to take three months with planned opening by Spring 2024 once the land and bike trails have had time to settle. Further updates will be issued as we progress through the work at the site, so keep an eye on our social media and website.

Thanks!
